I’m a 27 year old Industrial Designer graduated (MSc. cum-laude) from the Eindhoven University of Technology. I’m working as a Research Scientist / Innovation Designer at Philips Research, the Netherlands thinking up and building the future
.
My ambition is to becoming a mediator between more abstract far future visions and concrete near future implementations through viable business propositions and strive for innovation that matters. As a designer I’m constantly looking for opportunities to add sustainable value in peoples’ lives by exploiting the freedom to design new technologies have to offer.
When striving for these disruptive innovations I work from a human-centered perspective. Using both insight in peoples’ lives and insight in technology, I try to design visions of the new roles technologies can play in peoples’ lives.
I find it essential to not only envision this future but also to build the future; to make it explicit and experiential. Through prototyping, already early on in the process, from low to high fidelity, I’m able to involve both users and experts in the design process. In line with the ambition to make my designs explicit and experiential is the objective to integrate my designs into viable business propositions; as that is the way to make these innovations accessible to a considerable group of people.
I’ve got a particular interest in Lighting. Lighting is significant; everybody needs it! Furthermore, innovations in the domain of lighting offer tremendous new freedom to design, opening up a whole range of opportunities to enrich peoples’ lives. Lastly, lighting technology has advanced to such an extend these innovations can be brought to the market.
